State of Indiana Miss-placed and found 288 million
Indiana O Indiana… Looks like the state of Indiana due to a ‘computer error’ has found nearly a quarter billion dollars. Just in time for election year.
“Gov. Mitch Daniels announced the discovery Tuesday morning. He said that due to a software programming error, that money – collected since 2007 from businesses that paid their corporate income taxes using e-checks – was not being shifted into Indiana’s general fund.
“We drew the ‘Community Chest’ card: ‘Bank error in your favor,’” Daniels said while standing in his office, holding a card from the Monopoly board game.”
State budget officials said the money has now been deposited into the state’s general fund – the account from which payments for schools, pensions and other expenses that are part of Indiana’s $14 billion annual budget.
