American Kids, Take Notes: Japanese Kids Are Going Viral for Studying!

There’s a new type of video going viral in Japan — and it’s the kind of viewing American parents can only dream about their kids getting hooked on, because it promotes good study habits.

American kids, take notice: You can actually go viral for intelligent, conscientious behavior.

Here in the U.S., kids may be more likely to become internet stars for silly reasons — the ability to consume multiple packets of hot sauce, maybe, or being an ace at dangling a spoon from their nose.

Then there are the dangerous videos that show kids eating Tide Pods, for example, or playing pass-out challenge games.

But in Japan, “study clips” are all the rage. They stave off loneliness, too — kids can click on a study clip in their bedroom or dorm room, and they’ve got an instant study partner.

The audience is mostly middle school and high school age kids, as 93.9 iHeart country radio reports. And they’re tuning in by the millions.

“I can’t see where that would be entertaining, but it is company,” a college freshman who lives on the north shore of Massachusetts told LifeZette. “Part of the boredom of studying is the ‘alone time’ involved. Kids today feel that they always have to be entertained.”

Who knows?

Videos of American kids studying, mowing the lawn, and taking out the trash could be next.
