Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., new memoir proves he has always been a so-called #NeverTrumper and might despise Donald Trump as much as Hillary Clinton does, Jerome Corsi, author of the bestseller “Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump,” told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
“John McCain has taken a series of really aggressively antagonistic steps toward President Trump including casting the decisive vote that prevented the Obamacare repeal and replace both from going forward,” Corsi told Thursday’s “America Talks Live.”
“And now we know, as I pointed out in ‘Killing the Deep State,’ John McCain joined the co-conspirators who were planning this traitorous coup d’état within Hillary’s organization . . .”
In McCain’s “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and Other Appreciations,” excerpts of which are published in The Guardian, the veteran politician and Vietnam War hero now battling brain cancer, says he does not regret alerting the FBI to the Steele dossier about Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.
“I discharged that obligation, and I would do it again. Anyone who doesn’t like it can go to hell,” McCain writes, adding any risk that Trump might be compromised by Russia “had to be investigated.”
Corsi, an investigative journalist and conspiracy expert, said McCain’s statements show how deeply involved he was with Clinton to discredit Trump, who the dossier alleges observed a perverted act by Russian hookers in a Moscow hotel room – a claim the president has furiously denied.
“John McCain was working with directly with Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton’s campaign,” he told Newsmax hosts Miranda Khan, John Bachman, and Gina Loudon. “It was not that John McCain wanted to verify the document.
“John McCain brought the document over knowing it was opposition research, wanting the FBI to act on it, in order to get electronic surveillance of Donald Trump’s campaign. John McCain, I think it’s apparent now, has always been a #NeverTrumper. He hates Donald Trump, maybe as much as Hillary Clinton . . .
“[And he] has done everything he can, including delivering that . . . dossier which he knew could not be authenticated, to the FBI in order to try to get evidence which ultimately could either keep President Trump from being president or help to impeach him after he became president.”
The Steele dossier has been a key part of the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race. Trump has branded the probe a “witch hunt” and “hoax.”
McCain’s book, which was co-authored with his longtime collaborator Mark Salter, will be published May 22 by Simon & Schuster.
