Bret Baier: ‘It Pains Me’ When People Call Fox News State-Run TV

Fox News anchor Bret Baier defended his network in an interview with The New Yorker published Friday.

Baier compared President Donald Trump to Ronald Reagan during the interview, noting the similarities in a “peace through strength” foreign policy and media skepticism, but insisted that Fox News does not carry water for the president.

“It pains me [to hear Fox called] state TV,” Baier asserted.

“I have not gotten an interview with the President, and it’s five hundred thirty-four days since I did one with candidate Trump, not like anybody’s counting,” he added.

Baier also defended Fox from the ladies on ABC’s “The View” on Thursday, explaining the difference between news and opinion on the network. (RELATED: Bret Baier Defends Fox News From ‘The View’)

“Some of the loudest critics of Fox don’t watch my show and I’m on the news side and there’s an opinion side,” he explained. “I’m going to cover all sides fairly so people can make up their minds.”
