The entire Justice Department incurred almost another $1 million for supporting the Russia investigation in the latest report, spending a total of $5.4 million on the Russia investigation From October 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. The Special Counsel’s Office expense report states the DOJ’s spending amount “would have incurred for the investigations irrespective of the existence of the SCO.”
A majority of the latest expenses from the Special Counsel’s Office went to “personnel compensation and benefits” — more than $2.7 million.
Mueller’s office also spent millions on a combination of travel, transportation, rent, contracts and supplies, plus more than $200,000 on IT services. It spent more over the last six months than it did during the first four months of its investigation, which accounted for around $3.2 million.
