In the first quarter of 2018, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK) purchased 75.0 million shares of Apple stock (AAPL), bringing its total to 240.0 million shares. Berkshire Hathaway owns 5.0% of Apple and has holdings in excess of $40.0 billion. At the end of the fourth quarter of 2016, BRK owned 57.0 million shares of Apple, which was significantly higher than the 15.2 million shares it held at the end of the third quarter of 2016.
