Tom Cruise talked about the highly anticipated “Top Gun” sequel and said the advice he would give to his younger self would be to “just enjoy the ride.”

The comments came during an interview Thursday night with Entertainment Tonight at the “Mission: Impossible–Fallout” premiere in Paris. The 56-year-old actor was shown footage from an interview he did on set in 1985 for the first movie and he couldn’t help but laugh at himself talking about his “Maverick” role.

“Very sure of himself. He loves his plane, he loves to fly,” Cruise explained at the time.

“That is hilarious,” the “Mission Impossible” star responded.

Then he shared that the advice he would give himself would be to, “just enjoy the ride.”

He also reflected on recent reports about “Fantastic Four” star Miles Teller being cast to play his late pal and co-pilot “Goose’s” son in “Top Gun 2.

Cruise explained that, Teller is “a very dedicated actor, he’s going to be amazing.”

“The Mummy” star broke the news in May that production had started and included a great shot of him standing on an airfield under the headline that read, “Feel The Need.”

Last week, the actor’s fighter pilot rival in the movie, Val Kilmer, confirmed that he would be reprising his role as Iceman in the sequel and that he was “looking forward to working with Tom, Joe and Jerry, all such unique pros.”

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the movie will reportedly deal with the challenges veteran fighter pilots must face in the world of drone technology.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is set to hit theaters July 12, 2019.
