Clorox Co. reported second-quarter net earnings that rose to $217 million, or $1.66 a share, from $201 million, or $1.52 a share, in the same period a year ago. The FactSet consensus was for earnings per share of $1.58. Revenue grew to $1.69 billion from $1.65 billion, but was below the FactSet consensus of $1.72 billion. Household revenue fell 3% to $615 million, missing the FactSet consensus of $680 million, while cleaning revenue rose 3% to $516 million, compared with expectations of $516.3 million. Lifestyle revenue jumped 21% to $311 million, above the FactSet consensus of $267 million. For fiscal 2019, the consumer products company expects EPS of $6.32 to $6.52 and sales growth of 2% to 4%. The FactSet EPS consensus is $6.36 and revenue consensus of $6.44 billion implies 5.2% growth. The stock, which was still inactive in premarket trade, has lost 9.8% year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 5.2%.
