Phil Bredesen, Tennessee’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, has released a new campaign in which he receives lavish praise – from top Republicans.
The online ad shows retiring Sen. Bob Corker, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, and conservative political commentator Scottie Nell Hughes saying nice things in the past about Bredesen, The Volunteer State’s former governor, in various TV appearances.
Corker calls “a very good governor,” while Fleischman says, “he had a very strong fiscal relationship with a lot of the business people in this state, and he did a good job as governor.”
And Hughes is heard commenting: “Folks do not realize this, but a lot of Trump supporters are also Phil Bredesen supporters. We had two Republican governors who fought for an income tax, fought for a gas tax. You never saw a tax being fought for by Phil Bredesen.”
Bredesen is facing Republican candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn.
