US Companies Look for Ways to Live with Tariffs

As we noted in the previous part of this series, several companies such as Coca-Cola (KO), General Motors (GM), and Ford (F) cited headwinds in the form of higher costs during their quarterly earnings calls. Meanwhile, the United States Department of Commerce noted that it’s investigating whether some market participants are “illegitimately profiteering” from the US Section 232 tariffs. The administration has criticized companies that have referred to tariffs as a hindrance to earnings growth.
