A former reality TV show contestant who briefly worked for President Donald Trump reportedly made audio recordings of her conversations with him at the White House.
Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who worked with Trump on “The Apprentice” and was later hired to work in the West Wing, left the White House in January after a 12-month stint. According to The Daily Beast, she spent at least some of her time there taping her interactions with the president.
Further, the website reported that Manigault — whose position was director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison — played those tapes for people outside the White House as she tried to sell her upcoming book called, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House.”
Several people told The Daily Beast the recordings contain typical work discussions and banter between Manigault and Trump and do not feature anything revealing or Earth-shattering.
If the report is true, however, it would mark the second instance that someone who worked for Trump secretly recorded conversations with him. Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, who is in legal hot water regarding payoffs he made and potential tax fraud, recorded a 2016 conversation he had with Trump about paying a former Playboy model who alleged to have had an affair with Trump in 2006.
