First lady Melania Trump tried to get her husband to ignore the charges leveled at him by Omarosa Manigault Newman in her new memoir, according to a report.
But Donald Trump, who Manigault Newman has called “a racist,” went ahead anyway, taking to Twitter to label his former White House aide a “dog” and “crazed, crying lowlife.”
Axios reports that “in private conversations with President Trump before his first Omarosa eruption, advisers counseled him to hold his tongue. Several told him to ignore her and that engaging would only boost her book sales.
Here’s a look at some of what the president has said via tweets about Manigault Newman:
“When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!”
Wacky Omarosa, who got fired 3 times on the Apprentice, now got fired for the last time. She never made it, never will. She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok. People in the White House hated her. She was vicious, but not smart. I would rarely see her but heard … really bad things. Nasty to people & would constantly miss meetings & work. When Gen. Kelly came on board he told me she was a loser & nothing but problems. I told him to try working it out, if possible, because she only said GREAT things about me – until she got fired!”
Manigault Newman — a former contestant on Trump’s TV show ‘The Apprentice” was named his communications director for the Office of Public Liaison before getting the ax a year later — is promoting “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” published by Gallery Books.
