Trump Homes In on 'the Fake News Media' as 'Opposition Party'

President Donald Trump continued his war against the press on Thursday, blasting “the fake news media” as “the opposition party.”

But differing from past criticisms, the commander in chief zeroed in on “fake news media” instead of just the entire press corps, which he has previously condemned as “the enemy of the people.”

THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA IS THE OPPOSITION PARTY,” Trump exclaimed on Twitter.  “It is very bad for our Great Country….BUT WE ARE WINNING!”

Trump’s missive came hours after many newspapers across the country accepted The Boston Globe’s invitation to stand up for the press with editorials.

Nearly 350 news organizations have pledged to participate, according to Marjorie Pritchard, op-ed editor at the Globe.
