The ‘Yellowstone’ Season One Finale Was Electric [SPOILERS]

“Yellowstone” laid down the perfect groundwork for the second season with the finale of its inaugural run.

The finale wasn’t what I expected, but it was still impressive. I was expecting a massive bloodbath. We didn’t get that. However, that doesn’t mean it failed to meet expectations. There are three points I’m going to hit on.

First, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has handed over the power of his estate to Beth, and has essentially thrown Jamie to the side. This weighs deeply on his daughter. She might have put on a strong face to Jamie, but the season wraps with her crying at the dinner table as she realizes it’s only her and the head of the Dutton family present. The rest of the seats sit empty. It’s a powerful moment, and very sad. It’s a dark reminder of all the death surrounding the ranch. (RELATED: THE LATEST ‘YELLOWSTONE’ EPISODE WAS EXTREMELY DARK [SPOILERS])

Second, Jamie is preparing to sell out his dad to save his political campaign with a tell all expose. That’s going to be a problem, and I wouldn’t be shocked if his dad does something to permanently silence him. I highly doubt John is going to let one of his sons destroy the ranch. Also, it very much seems like his campaign manager is playing tricks with him. I don’t trust her as far as I could throw her, and I can’t throw anything very far with my bad back.

Finally, our big shocking moment of the finale was when a couple of the ranchers, led by Rip and Kayce, abduct Dan Jenkins to hang him. It’s proof that Kayce is now all in on the ranch. I really didn’t think he had it in him, but why should I have been surprised? He has shown that he has no problem killing people.

All in all, I loved the first season of “Yellowstone.” I had high expectations for the whole show, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Now, we just need the second season to get here as quickly as possible.
