Given 15 Seconds To Remember McCain, Dem Strategist Throws Shade At Trump

When given 15 seconds to remember Sen. John McCain, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 81, Democratic strategist Jason Nichols couldn’t resist taking a quick shot at President Donald Trump.

“Anybody in any leadership that questioned his sacrifice should be ashamed of themselves today,” he claimed.

Nichols appeared on “Fox & Friends” Sunday morning alongside Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell to discuss the implications of the Democratic National Committee’s recent move to strip super delegates of their power in choosing presidential nominees.

But as the segment came to a close, host Ed Henry gave Caldwell and Nichols 15 seconds each to remember Senator McCain.

“You know what, John McCain wasn’t simply a war hero — he was my hero politically,” Caldwell began. “During a heated battle for president I recall the moment when he was at a town hall and the woman said I don’t trust Obama because he’s an Arab. Then Senator McCain pulled the mic back said he’s a decent family man who I have fund — fundamental disagreement with … This is a level of civility.”

Nichols paid tribute to McCain’s sacrifice, saying, ” I just want to say as the son of an army veteran and the grandson of a World War II sailor, I had great respect for Senator McCain and his sacrifice.”

But then he pivoted, running out the clock on a thinly veiled jab at President Trump. “Anybody in any leadership that questioned his sacrifice should be ashamed of themselves today. And we know that some of our leadership has questioned that,” he said.
