Today marks the three year anniversary since I decided it was time to build an empire.
For those of you who don’t know, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in the summer of 2015. I was a piss poor student. I was a great at college, but I was awful at school. I was outstanding at the party scene, the sports, the leisure, the lifestyle — but school just wasn’t for me. I was more focused at building empires and drinking beer than I was on studying for tests. That might have really upset my parents, but it’s true.
In August 2015, I took a chance to join The Daily Caller with the inevitable launch of The Smoke Room on the horizon. I never could have expected what happened next. I hopped on a plane to Washington, D.C. with nothing more than a suitcase of clothes and a backpack with my computer, and decided it was time for an adventure. I literally didn’t know a single person in the entire city, but I could feel greatness was bound to happen. Last summer, I was handed the reins to The Smoke Room. I’d been waiting in the wings surrounded by incredibly talented people as we built this awesome site, but I wasn’t in total control. That all changed in late July 2017. In that moment, I was tasked with building an empire, and that’s where we find ourselves today.
The Smoke Room has consistently provided the best takes, the greatest coverage of models on the internet, the freshest look at sports, completely uncensored opinions on a variety of topics — and we do it all with an unapologetic attitude. Much like our founding fathers, we know what we want and we’ll start a revolution to get it.
Along the way, my team and I have have found ourselves in some hilarious moments. We dabbled with a star of “Westworld,” we were national news thanks to Chris Long, I set the internet on fire thanks to my Baker Mayfield marriage take, and so many more things happened that were smashing successes.
Three years ago, I had no idea what would happen. I was just a young man with a love for Miller Lite and college football that couldn’t be rivaled. Now, thanks to more people than I can count, we’ve built the empire so many of you enjoy today.
Here’s what I’ll leave you all with. In life, the line between success and failure can sometimes be razor thin. What if I didn’t get on the plane to come here? What if I hadn’t accepted this position to build the Smoke Room Empire? What if we didn’t give you guys our unfiltered thoughts? What would have happened? The obvious answer is that we’ll never know.
All we know for sure is that we’re here to drink beer and kick ass as we dominate the internet. I’m currently out of beer, and we all know what that means.
There are many more great things on the horizon for The Smoke Room, and I want to thank each and every reader who takes a little time out of their days to be a part of the journey. We couldn’t do it without all of you.
Now, crack a beer and celebrate our rise to the top of the mountain.
