Today, August 28, is Shania Twain’s birthday.
The Canadian-born country music star turns 53 years old today and has packed in a massive career in the entertainment industry.
Twain, who is best known as the “Queen of Country Pop,” has produced hit after hit, including “You’re Still the One,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “Come On Over.” Twain has won five Grammy awards and is one of only a handful of artists to have an album go diamond (selling over 10,000,000 copies) not once, not twice, but three times.
Despite her massive success, Twain retired from singing in 2004 after struggling with a long battle with Lyme disease. The sickness took a toll on her vocal chords and made her too weak to sing.
After a long stint of therapy and 15 years away from singing, Twain recovered and started again. She released her album “Now” in 2017 and continues her legacy as one of the most iconic women in country music.
