The National Rifle Association has released an ad slamming Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., as “part of the problem,” calling for votes for his Republican opponent Patrick Morrissey this November.
“D.C. liberals oppose your gun rights,” the 30-second NRA video begins. “And Joe Manchin is part of the problem.
“The National Rifle Association gives Joe Manchin a grade of D.”
The ad also featured President Donald Trump’s speech at a campaign rally supporting Morrissey, the West Virginia attorney general, in November’s midterm election against Manchin.
“They want to take away your Second Amendment,” the ad showed Trump telling a rally. “You see what’s going on. I don’t think you want your Second Amendment played with.
“Joe Manchin always voted for [Barack] Obama – and I like Joe, but Joe doesn’t vote for us,” Trump continued in the ad.
“We must elect Patrick Morrisey, we need him.”
Manchin had been endorsed by the NRA in 2012, but his rating has since slipped after working with Sen. Pat Toomey, D-Pa., on expansion of federal background checks, which has failed repeatedly in the Senate, The Hill reported.
