Sarah Sanders: Senate Dems Embarrassed Party With Kavanaugh Protests

Senate Democrats embarrassed their party with their actions during Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s first day of confirmation hearings, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday, but she did not find that surprising.

“We know they have been trying to use these ridiculous delay tactics,” Sanders told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”

“We know they have been trying to use these ridiculous delay tactics. They have been opposing Kavanaugh before he was even nominated.”

However, she said she does think the actions, including objections from committee members and protests from the audience will be “great news” for Republicans.

“If this is what we are up against in 2018 and particularly the auditions we saw for the 2020 presidential race that took place yesterday, I think that’s why we are in great shape,” she commented.

Democrats are demanding a trove of documents, particularly from the time period when Kavanaugh was a staff secretary during President George W. Bush’s administration. Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, though, has said the documents are privileged and can’t be seen.

Sanders, however, said the protests aren’t really about the documents, but are about making “ridiculous political ploys.”

“Kavanaugh and his team and our team here at the White House have turned over hundreds of thousands of pages of documents,” she said. “If Democrats can’t figure out whether they are a yes or no based on all of that, frankly, they shouldn’t be in the Senate.”
