Sen. Graham Warns Dems: GOP 'Not Going to Play This Game'

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned Democrats on Tuesday “we’re not going to play this game anymore,” declaring a hearing will be held Monday on a sex assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh followed by a likely confirmation vote Wednesday.

In remarks on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” Sen. Graham — one of 11 GOP members of the Senate Judiciary Committee considering Kavanaugh’s nomination to the high court — said he hopes accuser Christine Blasey Ford will testify before the panel.

“We’re not going to play this game anymore,” Graham said.

“I want her to be heard, but we aren’t turning the committee over to Democrats,” he added. “I don’t know anything about Ms. Ford, it’s a 36-year-old allegation, [she] can’t tell us when it happened and where it happened.”

“I know a lot about Judge Kavanaugh” that indicates “he’s not the kind of guy to do this,” he continued. “She deserves to be heard and will be challenged. Kavanaugh deserves to be heard and be able to defend himself.”

“But if she does not want to come Monday, publicly or privately, we’ll move on, and vote Wednesday,” he said.

Graham has been critical of the timing of Ford’s accusation — describing it as one that is “trying to ruin [Kavanaugh’s] life.”

“He’s being accused of a horrible thing,” he said, asking “what about his pain?”
