Google says 20 states are considering contact tracing contact tracing apps

Google parent Alphabet Inc. on Friday said 20 states are “exploring” contact tracing apps for COVID-19 the company has developed with Apple Inc. . The technology lets app users track encounters with other people via Bluetooth and anonymously notify them if they become infected with the virus. Additionally, Google said public health authorities in more than a dozen countries and regions had launched apps using the Google-Apple tool, including Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.
