Japan machinery orders rise 6.3% on month in July

Japan’s core private-sector machinery orders rose 6.3 percent in July from the previous month, government data showed Thursday.The orders, which exclude those for ships and from electricity utilities due to their volatility, totaled 751.3 billion yen ($7.1 billion), according to the Cabinet Office.Machinery orders are seen as a leading indicator of capital spending, and the rise in the reporting month followed a 7.6 percent decrease in June.
