Japan machinery orders edge up 0.2% on month in Aug.

Japan’s core private-sector machinery orders edged up 0.2 percent in August from the previous month, government data showed Monday.The orders, which exclude those for ships and from electricity utilities due to their volatility, totaled 752.5 billion yen ($7.1 billion), according to the Cabinet Office.Machinery orders are seen as a leading indicator of capital spending. The increase in the reporting month followed a 6.3 percent rise in July.
