Aung San Suu Kyi urges people of Myanmar to oppose military coup

Myanmar’s detained de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who was arrested during a coup on Monday, has released a statement urging the country’s people to oppose the military’s power grab, her party has said. “The Tatamdaw’s (the military’s) action showed no consideration whatsoever for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and is just to bring the country back to the military dictatorship,” Suu Kyi asserted. “The public is urged to fully oppose the military coup and resoundingly resist against it,” she added.
