Austrian chancellor names new labour minister after academic scandal

Economic scholar Martin Kocher will become Austria’s new labour minister, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced on Sunday after Kocher’s predecessor resigned over alleged plagiarism in her academic theses. Kocher, 47, has been leading the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, one of Austria’s leading economic think tanks. He is also a professor at Vienna University.
