Baseball: Giants lead Best Nine Award haul

The Central League champion Yomiuri Giants earned five Best Nine Awards, the most by any team, in the results of the voting released Wednesday, while no imported players reached the postseason honor roll for the first time in 59 years. Giants shortstop Hayato Sakamoto and center fielder Yoshihiro Maru each won for the sixth time, while Sawamura Award-winning ace pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano was named the CL’s best pitcher for the fourth time.
