Controversial security law spurs renewed protests across France

People across France showed their displeasure with controversial proposed security legislation on Saturday by gathering in cities nationwide, according to organizers. There were more than 55 such gatherings, they said. According to the Interior Ministry, about 32,770 people took part in the protests nationwide, 5,050 of them in Paris. In Paris, demonstrators protested the proposed legislation while also making a gesture towards the arts and culture, as such institutions have been closed for months due to the pandemic.
