Sen. Cory Booker is launching a cross-country trip to Republican states that could indicate he’s mulling a run for president in 2020.
The New Jersey Democrat told Yahoo News he plans to embark on a low-key “red state farmers tour,” although he is not disclosing which states he’ll visit.
“We’re going to do it and not tell anybody we’re doing it,” he said. “We’re not going to be doing it with lots of media coverage,” Booker said.
“My focus right now is two things; my own reelection, and making sure we’re in a strong position for that and the 2018 elections. I think, [after] that passes, I’ll sit down and give a hard consideration about a lot of folks that are talking to me about doing something else.”
Booker was first elected in 2013, in a special election after the death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg. He won a full term in 2014.
