Republican lawmakers need to mimic President Donald Trump and fight back hard against Democrats trying to stall the nomination process of Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh, former House majority leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV.
DeLay was on Thursday’s “America Talks Live” and was asked what Republicans can do to keep the Kavanaugh train on the tracks. Confirmation hearings for the judge who currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit are slated to begin Sept. 4.
“What you do is you go out and you get on shows and you write op-eds and you go after these people personally,” DeLay said. “Show that they’re liars and they’re cheats and they’re pathetic. You don’t just sit back and let it happen and give them the stage. You go after them in a very active way.
“Take a lesson from Donald Trump: don’t let anybody lie and let it go unanswered.”

“They are pathetic in what they do, but they are pretty good at it,” DeLay said. “Right now they’re focused on five votes — two Republicans and three Democrats in the Senate. If they can give those five senators a reason to vote against Kavanaugh, then they can win.
