Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel Feud Explained by 'The Rock'

The ongoing Dwayne Johnson-Vin Diesel feud surrounding the “Fast and Furious” franchise was explained by “The Rock” in the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine released this week.

The former pro wrestler, turned A-list actor, turned maybe presidential candidate admitted to Rolling Stone that he and Diesel didn’t shoot any of their scenes together during “The Fate of the Furious” released in 2016.

Johnson had posted a now-deleted message on Instagram pointing to anonymous co-stars who failed to “conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals.”

The action star said his disagreement with Diesel came down to their views on professionalism, Rolling Stone noted.

“Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer,” Johnson said. “And what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not.”

Johnson told Rolling Stone he doesn’t know if he will be coming back to the ninth installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, but he is starring in a spinoff “Hobbs and Shaw” with Jason Statham which is set to be out next year.

“But I wish (Diesel) all the best, and I harbor no ill will there, just because of the clarity we have,” Johnson told Rolling Stone. “Actually, you can erase that last part about ‘no ill will.’ We’ll just keep it with the clarity.”

CNN reported that Diesel wasn’t the only “Fast and Furious” co-star Johnson had a beef with. Tyrese Gibson, who has appeared in six of the eight films, went public about leaving the franchise if Johnson was part of the ninth movie.

“I’m sorry to announce that if Dewayne [sic] is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce [sic],” Gibson wrote on Instagram in November, according to CNN.
