Eckhoff wins first biathlon World Cup competition of the year

Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff had a controlled performance to claim victory in the first biathlon World Cup competition of the new year on Friday in Oberhof, Germany. The 2014 mixed relay Olympic champion was flawless on two visits to the shooting range and clocked 23 minutes 54.0 seconds in the women’s 7.5-kilometre sprint race. This was Eckhoff’s fourth win of the season and 17th overall.
