President Donald Trump’s approval rating remains below 50 percent, according to a new Fox poll released Wednesday.
Trump’s approval stands at 41 percent, while 57 percent disapprove of the job he’s doing. Trump voters, though, overwhelmingly approve of the job the president is doing (93 percent) while most black voters (13 percent) and Democrats (12 percent) do not.
Trump picked up poor ratings on border security 44 percent approve, 51 percent disapprove), immigration (39-57), foreign policy (37-55), healthcare (36-55), race relations (33-58) and international trade (39-53).
The poll comes one day after Trump’s former lawyer implicated the president in a hush money scheme. Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to eight criminal counts and admitted that, “in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office” he kept information from becoming public during the 2016 presidential election.
Trump responded to the allegation, saying on Twitter Cohen made up “stories in order to get a deal.”
Trump’s approval rating is the lowest since Oct. 2017, when Fox News said 39 percent approved of the job he was doing compared to 59 percent who didn’t.
The Fox News poll is based on interviews with 1,009 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide from August 19-21, 2018. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters.
