Geiger doubles up in Nordic combined, Swiss and Russian CC wins

Germany’s Vinzenz Geiger made it two Nordic combined wins out of two in Austria’s Ramsau on Sunday, again outsprinting Norwegian standings leader Jarl Magnus Riiber. Geiger repeated his trick from Saturday’s win in hauling back Riiber, who started the 10-kilometre cross-country portion first after a best 98 metres in the ski jump. Riiber’s 15-second lead over Geiger, who began seventh, was constantly nibbled away and the German won the final sprint by 2 tenths in a time of 23 minutes 28.8 seconds for a fifth career World Cup success.
