Gov't appeals ruling nixing approval of Japan nuclear plant operation

The government appealed Thursday a lower court ruling that revoked its approval to operate a nuclear plant in central Japan under new safety regulations developed in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima disaster, the nuclear watchdog said. The Osaka District Court’s ruling that described the safety screening of the Nuclear Regulation Authority as having errors and flaws that should not be overlooked is “absolutely unacceptable,” according to the regulatory body.
