There’s been a lot of speculation about whether Meghan Markle’s dad will attend the royal wedding this weekend. Headlines about his failing health, staged paparazzi photos and family drama have dominated the entertainment news cycle all week.

But today, Kensington Palace put all the rumors to bed after sharing an early morning statement issued by Meghan Markle herself. (RELATED: Here’s Why Prince Harry’s Model Cousin Isn’t Invited To His Wedding [PHOTOS])
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” an official statement given by the bride-to-be reads. “I would like to thank everyone who has generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”

Meghan and Harry will wed on Saturday, May 19th, at 7:00 a.m. at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, just outside London.
