Hoffenheim's Sebastian Rudy escapes serious knee injury

Hoffenheim midfielder Sebastian Rudy has avoided a “complicated” knee injury after getting his studs caught in the turf during Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Freiburg, the Bundesliga club have said. Rudy, who made his 300th Bundesliga appearance in the defeat, has strained ligaments and suffered a bone injury, the club said Sunday. Defender Kevin Akpoguma also picked up a thigh injury in the game and joins Benjamin Huebner, Dennis Geiger and Florian Grillitsch on the treatment table. Hoffenheim did not specify how long Rudy and Akpoguma would be out for in their update.
