Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz and FBI Director Christopher Wray face a grilling from senators Monday over the IG report on the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
Horowitz’s report, which came out Thursday, stated no decisions made by the Justice Department “were affected by bias or other improper considerations.”
However, it called former FBI Director James Comey “insubordinate” for announcing that Clinton would not be charged before informing then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and noted that his own use of his personal email account to conduct official FBI business was “inconsistent with Department policy.”
“The question I have [is], was the Department of Justice and the FBI, the people in charge of the Clinton investigation, were they really in the tank or not?” Judiciary Committee member Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Thursday.
“We’ll see what the conclusions are and I will challenge Mr. Horowitz [on whether] his conclusion that they weren’t in the tank makes sense. Time will tell.”
The Senate Judiciary Committee hearing will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
