Hotel guests in Japan in 2020 drop 48% to record low over virus

The number of people who stayed at hotels and other accommodation facilities in Japan plunged 48.6 percent in 2020 from a year earlier to a record low, government data showed Friday, as entry restrictions into the country were imposed and domestic travel demand was dented due to the coronavirus pandemic.
