Indonesia's population hits 270 mil., "productive" age group surges

The Indonesian population has reached 270.2 million, a jump of more than 32.5 million from 2010, according to the country’s 2020 Population Census published early Friday by Statistics Indonesia. Those in the so-called productive age demographic, between 15 and 64 years old, account for 70.72 percent of the total population, up from 66.09 percent in 2010, with those under 40 accounting for 65 percent of the total alone, the data showed.
