Italian president invites Mario Draghi for talks on new government

Italian President Sergio Mattarella wants to talk to former European Central Bank (ECB) president Mario Draghi about forming a new government. Draghi has been invited to meet with Mattarella at 12 pm (1100 GMT) on Wednesday, the Quirinal Palace in Rome said on Twitter late on Tuesday. Earlier, Mattarella had announced that attempts had failed to find a new grouping of parties to revive the failed coalition under Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who resigned as a result.
