Japan's December industrial output falls 1.6% on month

Japan’s industrial output in December fell 1.6 percent from the previous month, government data showed Friday. The seasonally adjusted index of production at factories and mines stood at 93.2 against the 2015 base of 100, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a preliminary report. The result followed a downwardly revised 0.5 percent fall in November. The index of industrial shipments fell 1.6 percent to 92.3, while that of inventories increased 1.1 percent to 95.3.
