Americans need to look no further than the Russia investigation in seeking evidence of an FBI conspiracy against President Donald Trump, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said Tuesday.
Gohmert appeared on Fox News and spoke about embattled FBI agent Peter Strzok’s July 10 public testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee. “Outnumbered Overtime” host Harris Faulkner asked him what type of plan a handful of FBI officials could cook up to take down Trump.
“It is called the Russian investigation. And there is nobody that has been better at projecting than the Democrats — and especially the Clintons,” Gohmert said.
“Anything of which they are guilty, they project it onto their opponents. And [Hillary Clinton] is the one that had the ultimate collaboration in colluding with the Russians, and she saw to it that they got the deal to take over a huge amount of U.S. uranium. That should never have gone through.”
Strzok, who exchanged thousands of anti-Trump text messages with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, testified behind closed doors in front of the House Judiciary panel on June 27. Some suspect Strzok and others at the FBI and Department of Justice of trying to help Clinton win the 2016 presidential election. Those same skeptics claim the DOJ’s probe that’s looking at whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia is also a hoax designed to remove Trump from office.
“When you look at the thousands and thousands of texts that gave us great insight on this guy, it is very clear that he hates those of us on the Republican side of the aisle, especially if you supported Trump against Hillary Clinton,” Gohmert said of Strzok.
“And so you have got to take everything that comes out of his mouth with more than a grain of salt. More like a block of salt. He has not been an honest arbiter of truth and justice.”
