Mets get knees dirty to honor Tom Seaver; statue coming in 2021

NEW YORK — Every member of the Mets put dirt on his right knee to symbolize Tom Seaver’s quintessential drop and drive delivery. As each player took the field, he stopped at his position and tipped his cap to No. 41, which hangs in the upper deck in left field.The long-awaited Mets Seaver statue is in the process of being made, which takes about 18 months, and is expected to be unveiled in early 2021.
