Michigan records most new daily COVID-19 cases since mid-December

DETROIT — Michigan added 5,224 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the largest daily total this year. The state also added 49 deaths Thursday, bring the total number of cases to 642,869 and deaths to 15,984 since the virus was first detected in March 2020, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.
