Midway voter turnout low compared to previous Israeli elections

Voter turnout in Israel’s fourth parliamentary election in two years stood at 34.6 per cent at 2 pm (1200 GMT), up to 3.5 percentage points lower than at the same hour in the previous elections, Israel’s Central Elections Committee reports. In the March 2020 and September 2019 parliamentary elections, voter turnout at 2 pm was 38.1 and 36.5 per cent, respectively. The low turnout so far – about midway between the opening of polling stations and their closing late Tuesday – steps up fears of voter fatigue in the country.
