Myanmar protests continue as martial law imposed in parts of Yangon

There were further demonstrations in Myanmar on Monday with reports of several deaths, as protesters turned out despite the military’s brutal suppression of rallies across the country over the weekend, resulting in the bloodiest day so far. On Monday, at least four demonstrators were shot dead in Myingyan and Mandalay in the north, and at least two in Yangon in the south, according to the Irrawaddy newspaper.
