N. Korea's Kim vows to boost defense capabilities at party congress

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pledged to strengthen the country’s defense capacities at the first congress of the ruling party in more than five years, state-run media reported Thursday. On the second day of the congress of the Workers’ Party, which started Tuesday, Kim displayed his “important will” to protect national security by “placing the state defense capabilities on a much higher level,” the official Korean Central News Agency said.
