The Dow Jones Transportation Average surged 1.7% toward a six-month high, with all 20 components gaining ground, as a selloff in crude oil prices helped fuel some gains. The biggest gainers within the Dow transports were shares of package delivery giants FedEx Corp. , which rallied 3.1%, and United Parcel Service Inc. , which hiked up 2.1%. Among other more active components, shares of Southwest Airlines Co. gained 1.7%, Delta Air Lines Inc. rose 1.9% and American Airlines Group Inc. advanced 1.8%. Meanwhile, crude oil futures sank 2.1% ahead of inventory data. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 113 points, or 0.5%, with 16 of 30 components gaining ground.
