Perfect Peiffer wins World Cup mass start, Roiseland still top

Germany’s Arnd Peiffer produced a perfect performance to claim a narrow victory in the first mass start race of the biathlon World Cup season in Austria’s Hochfilzen on Sunday. The 33-year-old Olympic champion was flawless on four trips to the shooting range to set up a head-to-head duel with Sweden’s Martin Ponsiluoma, who led going into the final lap of the 15-kilometre race.
