Rakuten to offer cell phone plans with up to 1-gigabyte free data

Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten Inc.’s wireless carrier unit will charge no fees for subscribers who use up to 1 gigabyte of data per month from April as price competition with major rivals intensifies, sources close to the matter said Friday.
